there are great canoe races in the summertime. All along the coastal areas.

Lost at Sea Tragedy

There is a small memorial park next to the WT Preston at the Marine Museum honoring the lost fishermen from the boats the Altair and Americus.
It is a great tragedy experienced by a city when two fishing boats from Anacortes, with 14 aboard, go down in the Bering Sea on Valentine's Day. The sinking of the Americus and the Altair stuns city residents. almost a generation of fishermen lost at once. Fathers and sons and husbands and friends.

Two views from Mt. Erie

Mt. Erie is actually only a large hill being only 1300ft. But it has some terrific views and here are a couple. This is looking Northwest out towards the San Juan Islands. See the marina tucked in a bay. Skyline Marina.

Salmon and Totem

These guys are on the Salmon trail at Whatcom Creek in Bellingham.

The sun was shining here but............
