Liquid Sunshine

Our little corner of the world that seldom sees snow is getting very confused. All my little blossoms that I was so proud of are under a white blanket of a very strange substance. The nice thing is that it will (hopefully) be gone in a couple of days. It is just barely freezing and is supposed to warm up this afternoon. The flower is winter blooming Royal Heritage Helleborus.

Little beauties

Working out in the yard today. Still piling up storm debris, waiting for a chipper. These little crocus coming up here and there. I thought the purple was so pretty but the white one kept saying me too! me too! So here ya are.

Tools of the trade

Sevenish, when it finally got light enough to see outside, I noticed one of the horses was where she shouldn't be. Yep, through the fence, in a pasture that I just drug and had fenced off so it could start to grow, there was Kelly. The other horses racing up and down the fence line wondering how she did it. So I gather up--a halter and lead rope, pull on my muck boots, gloves and earmuffs, grab some wire and clippers, get the dog and out we go. I put her in with the others, checked the damage and fixed it, shook my fist at Kelly. That is what one does when one has critters. Stretch, yawn, time to feed everybody. I have been up since 5:30 but it is DARK out.

Mother goes to Market

A friend of mine gave me this bunny about 10 years ago. One morning I woke up to find her in my front yard. It took me a week to find out how she got there. We laughed and laughed. It was a good surprise. Her name is Mother goes to Market and I put seasonal flowers in her. She is out beside the gravel road by our property. I took this picture this morning and you can see our snow is GONE.

What is this??

It snowed!! Hey no fair. We already had our snow, don't want any more. Two pictures today. Last nights sky at sunset and look at my Helleborus. While pretty I hope it will just disappear. At least it is not so cold outside.

Waitin' n watchin'

I just ran across this picture of Shannon (Kylee's mother) when she was 10. We had a 4H group and we gamed. Here she is at Fair waiting her turn. I always thought this was a neat picture.

It was taken lumpty-lumpty years ago.

My favorite grand-daughter

Well actually she is the only girl grand. She is such fun. She mostly grew up at our house but when she was 5 moved away but her mother brought her to our house to go to school. Now she lives in Snohomish on a horse outfit. She has a horse named Sadie that she games on, runs barrels and does penning and sorting. though running barrels is what she like most. She works at the barn cleaning stalls, feeding and watering horses and now she is giving lessons to kids. Busy girl. she just turned 13 this month although she thinks she is at least 25. There are pictures of K and her horse somewhere on my other blog.

I went to a 6 yr. olds birthday party yesterday. I was at a roller skating rink ans I WENT ROLLER SKATING!!! I haven't been in at least 700 years and guess what I did ok. My brain clicked in and told my legs and feet what to do and it worked and I didn/\'t even fall, Not once. Because if I would have fallen i wouldn't be up yet. Of course no one took my picture so here is what the sky looked like. Beautiful day outside but a fun day inside. Happy Birthday to Mattea

High in the sky

I have observed this Eagle nest for the past 5 years. I imagine it is the same pair that returns every year. Last year there were two offspring. This tree is out in the open along side a road in Conway. It is huge, made with large sticks. As you see , there is an Eagle standing guard. A little early for laying but they have been hanging around it a lot lately. Ah spring....

Ivory Prince

This is my winter Helleborus called 'Ivory Prince". He is loaded with buds and is bursting out now. Last year he bloomed in January so I have been waiting impatiently. Last year's winter was very mild. My crocus, daffs and tulips are all coming up, tho they will wait to bloom at the appropiate time

New growth

I made this Bonsai about 8 years ago. It is an apple tree. It actually blossoms and bears tiny apples. Bonsai is quite fun. This is a new bud, growing, right now, outside. I count 6 flower buds. I was the Bonsai lady at the nursery where I worked.

Heron on the River

Groundhog Day.
This is no groundhog but a Great Blue Heron. He (or she) is looking in the Samish river. Can't see his shadow but only a reflection.
Springs coming anyway.

This little, I suppose family cemetary, is down the road from us. Tracey started a thread about cemetaries and I had just taken this picture so I will post it here. It is on someone's farm surrounded by white board fence. Only 6 headstones one stating that Joseph......died 1871. Too cool. I would like a cemetary on my property but I don't want to be the first. MB
