Birds, birds and then some more

All these birds have visited my house at one time or another---well--except the Cardinal. We don't have them out this way. I have never ever seen one up close and personal. Some day I will. But I do enjoy all the other birds and there are more that I just couldn't fit in. Another time.

Welcome to Camano Island

Stanwood and Camano Island are connected by a bridge over what is left of the Stillaguamish River. One way in, one way out--right through Stanwood. Camano is a small-18 miles long and 7 miles wide at the widest spot--but it is beautiful and has 2 wonderful state parks.

The light at the end of the tunnel.......

the past 2 days we have been pounded with rain and high winds. Our power was out since last night and now is back on. The coastal areas were hit really hard with flooding etc. So far today seems calm.

Trumpter Swan are back in the Valley.....

Trumpeter Swans winter here in the Skagit Valley. They love old corn fields and are interesting to watch. Very elegant even in the mud. MB

Mt. Rainier this morning

Remember my good camera is broken and in the shop---and who knows when I will get it back. My daughter lent me her teeny tiny point and shoot Fuji. I thought Oh all right. But it does a bang up job--Look at Mount Rainier. From the deck. That was this morning and I took more too. MB

The bottom photo I took at 10:00AM and the top one at 10:30AM. Subtle differences. MB

A flower amongst the weeds

Calendula---A pretty perky flower that will bloom well into the winter. Also called 'pot marigold' referring to it's use as a herb in cooking. Also used in earlier days as a dye. Can be almost invasive in a formal garden so be careful where you plant it. MB
