My shaggy Garden for Floral~Friday

Across the front of the side yard were some huge trees that were damaged by the past few years snow so I had them pulled out last year. I wanted to put in a type of cottage Garden. So little by little I would get plants I wanted and plant them. With our hot and dry summer this year I had to water which the plants loved but so did the weeds, they only grew where I watered. No matter how much you weed they still come back. But it is getting pretty--mostly perennials and shrubs and a couple Japanese Maples---so far. Next year I will hopefully finish my project. LOL

The pretty reddish flower is a Schizostylis also called Crimson Flag.Excellent Fall plant. It is evergreen and makes an excellent cut flower.(or cut the spikes)

Sumac

Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) While sometime annoying with it habit of producing many suckers is a beautiful fall foliage tree. I figure this qualifies for Floral Friday because it is so colorful and also has red spires of fruit. OK?? MB

Floral~Friday--Bright and shiny

I took this picture last Thursday when the actual sun was actually shining. Not now it is nothing but gray days and rain. These are Gazanias (one of my favorite) and they only open up when the sun is out. I do a lot of container gardening.

Old Bikers never Die..........

..........They just walk away....LOL

After seeing all the bikes at the Oyster Run--they estimated 8000 to 10,000 on the streets in Anacortes. Very cool!

The next day I visited a few retirement homes for my Mother and cracked up at the sight of the walkers all lined up just like the bikers do their bikes.

My weird sense of humor. MB

Potato harvest

Potato Harvest is going strong in Stanwood and Skagit county. the orange machine scoops up the potatoes and they go up the conveyer and drop in the truck and then they go to the farm where they are washed and sorted and shot back into a truck and look so pretty. Ready for the store and your house. Skagit county is one of the US largest potato producers (red I think) and Grant county in eastern Washington is the largest in the US bigger than Idaho. Unbelievable! NOT!! MB

Fall flowers and foliage for Todays Flowers

Fall has arrived in my neck of the woods. It is a very beautiful time. The leaves are changing, late summer perennials are blooming and some flowers are going to seed. The first picture is Beaver Lake near Sedro Woolley. The rest are at my house.
