Grandfather cuts loose the ponies.....

The sculpture of the ponies by David Govedare is so beautiful and breathtaking high up on the desolate hill. Started in 1989 and never finished. Well the horses are finished but there is no basket.
My favorite place to stop and talk to the spirits. Kylee and I have climbed right to the horses and visited them.




A distant rumbling strikes the air. Swirling dust motes reach skyward. A dry breeze dances across desolate lands. Thunderheads build and fingers of light split the sky. A breeze becomes a howling wind. Hear the voice of creation! The Grandfather Spirit sends his message across the plains, echoing through the mountains and valleys of Mother Earth:

"Creatures of this planet, behold, a Great Basket! I send this basket, bearing the gift of life, to all corners of the universe. Now take these ponies, I am cutting them loose. They will inspire a Spirit of free will. They will be a companion for work and play on this planet. This is a way for you to see how all life depends on all other life. This basket is my heart. You are at one with me. Eagle of the sky, we look to you for vision. Salmon of the water, we look to you for life-giving sustenance. Deer of the land, you provide a bountiful tranquility for our Mother Earth.

"From the center of my Basket burns the fire of our collective souls. Humans, you are responsible. You have the power of reasoning and the gift of free will. Use them wisely. Always be aware of the limitless nature of this ever expanding universe. Let us live to inspire each other."

You will notice that there is no basket. Funds rand out for David but the ponies endure. MB

The Rucker Mansion

The Rucker's were one of the founding families of Everett wa.
the Mansion was built in 1904.


The Rucker Mansion, built high on a plateau southwest of downtown with sweeping 180-degree views of the city, harbor, and Cascade and Olympic mountains, was just the most prominent of many substantial homes under construction that year. The large brick home, with a wood frame veranda wrapping three sides, cost $40,000 to construct. The builder (whose identity is not known) combined a number of architectural styles including Italian Villa, Queen Anne, and Georgian Revival. In addition to the sumptuously decorated main floor and the second-floor bedroom suites, the mansion included a basement cardroom and billiard room and a third-floor ballroom.

Stonehenge Goldendale wa

On a lonely bluff overlooking the Columbia River and near town of Goldendale, Washington, is a full-size replica Stonehenge. An almost identical copy of the more famous English Stonehenge, it was built by Sam Hill, a road builder, as a memorial to those who died in World War I. Dedicated in 1918, the memorial wasn’t completed until 1930. Hill passed away soon after he finally saw his masterpiece completed. He was buried at the base of the bluff; but, because he wished to be left alone, there is no easy path to his resting place.

I was watching the barrel racers warming up their horses when I saw this cowgirl. It cracked me up. Cowgirl--horse--She's got her western clothes on and there she is texting her friends. I like the look!! MB

Since the tulips grown in Skagit Valley are actually grown for the bulb before the tulip dies they must be beheaded so the bulb can develop to be the best it can be. Bulbs from the Skagit Valley are sold all over the world. the petals are almost immediately picked up so the rows remain clean and germ free.

Friday Night Sunset

.....where is thy warmth.

Today was the hottest day of the year. It was 68degreesF. We have had such a cold and wet Spring and almost everyone was out in shorts, tank top and flip flops. Well it seemed that way.

The horses love lying in the sun soaking up the warmth. MB

Saw this nice setup today. Loved the whole farm and the close-up of the red barn.
Isn't the sky beautiful. Today started out cold--35degrees F. , then a touch of snow and rain and hail and the finally--SUNSHINE!!!
