I couldn't think of what to post today, so I am glad I waited. The is sunset or twilight. It was taken today at 5:40 PM outside my house on the road looking west. The ridge in the background are the Olympic Mts. It was just a cool look. The sky was still bluish and the oranges and yellows blended and glowed. Yum!

Who is lurking?

Now that the snow is gone and Spring is just around the corner I have been checking my garden to see what might be coming up. LOOK OUT!! what do i see? Oh no!! It is an ALIGATOR. Yipes!!!

The Sentinel

I know I've posted eagle pictures before but this guy was almost right outside the door at the top of a huge fir tree. He/she looked so majestic I had to take a picture. I wish I had a real zoom lens. If you double click it will enlarge. MB

Skagit City Schoolhouse

This is a picture of Skagit City Schoolhouse built in 1902 to replace the original one that flooded away. The whole town of Skagit was built on the river and flooded every year finally disappearing. This school was built away from the river in a forest of fir trees. The trees are also long gone and now are pastures. This school was used until 1938 when all the small farm community schools consolidated with the new Conway school.

It has been placed on the Historical Register and is used for picnics, etc. In the summer Friends of fir Island has a huge potluck. Come and enjoy!

Shaker Church

This an old Native American Shaker Church on the Tulalip Reservation in Marysville, Wa.

I don't know if it is still being used. I really don't think so.

The blues

I think that is what I must have. Or maybe I am having a pity party all by myself. Our power was out all day today. Since early morning 'til around 4. So I was over on the Samish river and I always see these boats but I have never taken a picture of them and since they look like I felt I thought Yep Yep Yep!!! So I am over whatever. I need to take some pictures of the horses the only ones I have are just kylee on her horse and the minis. They are posted on my other blog. I will quietly go now that I have been reduced to just babbling.

Sunrise

It is 7:25 right now and the sun actually rises today at 7:48 but this is what it looks like right now.

Wow! the colors got brighter as the sky got lighter. To the way left of this picture the sun is now trying to peek through the trees. Going to be a pretty day today. Yippee!!

Riding shotgun

Sassy, my navigater, is waiting for me load up the gator with hay. She rides there or in the seat. My shotgun rider, we haven't faced any masked bandits yet but you never know. MB

Name that farm

I went to my mother's home on Whidbey Island today. It is about 2 hours away. So even tho it is a gray and dark day it was a pleasant drive. I have passed this place many times and finally thought I HAVE to have a pic of the name. I thought for sure we could all relate.

Red Bird

We don't have any Cardinals out this way but I do love 'em. I do have some pretty ones I put on the Christmas tree but this guy is in my kitchen.

Lucky me

These are from farmgal pal Nancy Jo. A wunderkind. Some Friday morning we are going to the thrift store and find more stuff.

Eagles

Went down in the valley along Padilla Bay and the Samish River and did some bird watching. Saw thousands of Snow Geese and bunches ofTrumpeter Swan, some Red-tail Hawks and NorthernHarriars and about a ton of Eagles. I didn't know which picture to post but I did decide on the Eagles.I had a fairly good one of an eagle on the ground but decided on the eagles in the tree. If you click on the pic you will see them better. I need a camera with a zoom lens. The Skagit Valley is where many birds from up north winter. They will be gone (except for resident ones) in March.

Waiting for Summer

Now that the snow is gradually going away I found this little guy (left out since summer) waiting for sprinkler time. It is a sprinkler.

Keeper of lost dreams

Lots of snow again. I love snow pictures and I have taken a ton of them...but....This is one of my outside faeries, her name is finder or keeper of either lost or forgotten dreams. I've forgotten, she'll take care of me.

Dog on the pond

So today was a different day. Lots of kids because of no school. We made more valentines and played outside a lot. It is still snowy and freezing but that makes for great sledding.From the top of the yard is a hill to the pasture and the pond too. It was fun and even the dog rode the sled by herself. I didn't get a picture of that but I did get a pic of her walking on the THIN ice on the pond.

Crafty Day

The power went out at 5 am today and I took an amazing picture of the frozen morning sky with Mt. Rainier in the background but then I thought I have to take a picture of what I am doing. So withG-kids here today and at least it was light until the power returned we made Valentines. We also made a mess!! It was fun.

Reflections on a pond

I guess this blog is one photo a day in what is going on in my life. I went to feed the horses turned to look at the pond and this is what I saw.

It's back

Well it's happened again. At this time last month we had snow and here it is again. Lovely pictures though. This is a Washington Hawthorn. I took an almost identical pic last month.

Snowy morning

We had snow this morning. Not a whole lot, but I took a couple of pictures. Later I thought I would ride down to the valley and see if I could find a better picture. There was no snow there, but the sun was shining. We are up by the forest and as soon as you get off our road there is no snow. When I got in the valley I could look back up and see that we are just at the snow line. So this is my picture for the day. I could wait till tonight and see if i could get a cool cloud pic. But Nah!! My cement truck. It is a planter about 2 ft by 1ft high at the cab. It is snowing like crazy here now. 2:26pm

The Lull

I took this photo at 4:45 when there was a lull in the storm. Our power was off but came on at 6:15 so I can now post this eerie pic.

Rock House

I love this little rock cabin on Samish Island not too far from us. It was built in the 50's and probably was a summer cabin at that time and everyone pitched in and built it. (My romantic dreams) It was for sale a short time ago and Ithought 'oh, wowee, I wish i could buy it'. the price tag was a bit out of my range--500,000. Yipes. I will just drive by and look at it. It does have waterfront and a beautiful view.

I was hoping to do more cloud formations but all we have here is gray flat sky.

House in the valley

This is one of the beautiful houses that dot the valley farmland. If I remember right it was built in 1905.Last year it was surrounded by potatoes and next to them many rows of blue berries.I really admire the people who take such good care of these older houses.

mosaic butterfly

Here is my pic for yesterday, Jan.6 . I couldn't post yesterday because the power was out due to the rain and wind storm (again)I did take this yesterday and wasn't going to use it but to be honest I thought I should. It is a cement butterfly I have in my yard. I can always get a good deal by finding broken or chipped yard ornaments. this one was free. Yippee!!

Snowy morning

We had a light dusting of snow overnight. today is Jan. 5, 2007. I had to wait til daylight to take this picture. Well actually I didn't wait. It is still dark out . This waiting is %#&$%#. Grrr
