10 days later.
I took this today after a huge rain and wind storm. very short though. It came in and went out like ZAP!! and then the sun came out.

Petroglyphs

These petroglyphs are located at Vantage Washington along the Columbia River. At one time there was an Indian village and campground at the rivers edge but it was covered when the Wanapum dam was built. I remember as a kid hanging over the cliffs to see the paintings. They were saved and replaced at the park.
The area around Vantage has been occupied by the Wanapum tribe of Native Americans. About 60 Wanapum still live near the present day site of Wanapum Dam....
The site where these petroglyphs were found was inundated by the rising waters behind Wanapum Dam.

Trapped Hummingbird

This poor little Hummingbird was stuck up in the skylight on the front porch. I am happy to say he finally freed himself.

Fish on!!!

A blogging friend, EG @ http://eastgwillimburywow.blogspot.com/ had done a similar collage and I just had to figure out how to do this. And....this is the best I can do. I may wrestle with it some more.

This is fishing (I call it elbow fishing) on the Samish River when the Salmon are coming in to fresh water from salt water. This is at the mouth of the river. My friend says 'poor fish let them go on up stream to spawn like nature intended' and he only fishes Salmon in saltwater. I respect that. MB

The sun came out today

Today started out rainy and gray. So off shannon and I went to feed the animals--she to the horses and I fed the goats and played with the dogs. We all got wet. No sooner were we in the house and Shannon commented about how the sun comes out after we are done. It is amazing how fasr the weather can change. I glanced out the window and there was Mt. Rainier out among the clouds. She stayed out all day too. MB

This shot is done in sepia with a little added saturation. The original colors are so vivid that the glow would not go away.

'This is my Tuesday' a new photo project and todays theme is 'LOVE'.
This is my dog Bingo with little Niblet the Cat snuggled up to him. Even though they play at being enemies and chase and leap and jump at each other---when it's time for a snooze you will find them together. Secretly they really like each other, but don't tell them I said so.

A lull in the rains

This is on the deck from the east side of the house. You can see the top of the gate. that is the goat pen and you can see Snowflake. The trees are very pretty right now but it has been raining awfully hard so soon the leaves will wing away. Enjoy them now. MB

Through a dirty windshield

Grandfather lets loose the ponies.....

I pass this scene every time I go to Ritzville. It is just across the Columbia River. Kylee and I have climbed up to see the horses and it is mystical and magical. Truly a beautiful view and when it is all quiet you can hear the horses softly nickering.

Grandfather Cuts Loose the Ponies is a sculpture of 15 wild horses that has crowned a prominent Central Washington hillside for more than a decade and is an inspiring sight for travelers along busy Washington Interstate 90 as they enter Grant County from the west.


The 200-foot line of life-size charging horses, the creation of David Govedare of Chewelah, Washington, captures a mystical spirit from a time when real wild horses roamed the steppes. Titled “Grandfather Cuts Loose the Ponies,” the scene symbolically re-creates the Great Spirit turning loose a herd of wild horses above the Columbia River’s Wanapum Lake.

The frost is on the.........

Morning in Ritzville---but nice warm and sunny days.
I had to come home and I say that,in a melancholy way, because I really enjoyed visiting my eldest daughter.

Going to Ritzville

Well I am heading out for a few days. I should be back by Monday.
Actually I am driving but this looked like fun.

Morning at the pond.....

It was a beautiful morning and the morning sun looked perfect on the pond.
I took these pictures at 8AM.
I was out taking pictures of the mountain earlier and the dogs and I spent some time enjoying the water. Frogs are fun too.
