Where's MB

This is a small piece of the Pilchuck Tree Farm I live in/near/under. It is several thousand acres of wonderfully managed trees. Open to hikers, horsebackriding (only April to november for horses) and bicyclers no motors allowed. There are many logging roads and trails and beautiful vistas. This tree farm was started in the 40s and 50s by a visionary who knew there was a better way to log than just cut 'er all down. Selective logging and replanting. Anyway I live somewhere in there---up and to the right. I took these pictures down the hill on a road call Starbird Rd. I like that name.

O-MOK-SEE

Kylee and shannon went to a 3 day event in gaming called O-MOK-SEE. It was in Langley on Whidbey Island. Shannon is starting a young horse and she said the horse did well. "At least we made clean runs" she said and that is what matters in starting a horse. Kylee did well, she placed 5th over all and got a Halter and she placed in 8 events and got 8 medals. this year medals instead of ribbons.

I found these placemats at a yard sale yesterday. I will try to use them, somehow, for my front yard Fall decor. This is the quilt my Mother made for her youngest greatGrandson, Aidan.

Frustrating Friday

I am bone tired!! there I said it. Boo Hoo!!
This container is in front of the garage between the two doors. The planter is doing well and WEEDS are growing in the driveway. The container contains (great wording) Hardy Fuchsia, Jade Heuchera and a Fancy Leaf Geranium (Vancouver centennial) and a few other things stuck in here and there. MB

Pretty flowers

Between hospital visits here are some plants that need caring for. My nasties are finally blooming. A yellow dahlia with a bee thingie and I am getting ready to make the front all orange and autumnish. I suppose by the time fall is actually here all the flowers will have already bloomed. I do like the fancy leaf geraniums. the one pictured is still in it's original 4in pot. I must be lazy. MB

With Laysea is the old girl Sassy--Jack Russell wild one.

Another day

Kinda chilly out this morning but the days are getting shorter and the nights cooler--summer is winding down. It will probably get into the low 70s today. Perfect. The Shower of Stars (Persius) are this weekend (for best viewing). I'll be looking.
Kylee and her Mother are going down to Yelm to a rodeo--so hopefully they will take pictures. They left at 5:30 this morning. So pretty out--Mt. Rainier all pinky.

Lost room

When my youngest daughter moved out almost 2 years ago I decided to make her room my sewing craft room. Good idea? Wait!! Now my daughter Shannon and Grand-daughter Kylee have moved back home and--yep--there goes my sewing room. Soo here is where everything is now---the living room. But the view is beautiful and I can daydream instead of sew.

Old time living

This was an original homestead from this area. Lived in until the 1950s and moved to be preserved. The cedar slab house is what a lot of natives lived in and also early homesteaders and loggers. It is take from a sawn down Cedar and hollowed out and a roof put on and is cozy. They did make bigger ones where they cut cedar slabs as tall as was necessary and put them together and added a roof and a have a new home.
These now have a home at the Stanwood Fairgrounds and are used as a museum and a fun place for kids to hid and then have their pictures taken. I think the date on the cabin is 1888.

almost apples & lingonberries

My crabapple bonsai apples are just starting to turn red. It is a wonder it is still alive because when I was gone to E. WA. somebody forgot to water all my babies. But I saved everything. YAY!
My lingonberries are starting to bear but I have only 3 plants left, so no sauce this year. The lingonberry is the top picture.

Blue ribbons at the fair

Thank you Sue for encouraging me to enter my photos. I entered 3 photos at the 'Stanwood-Camano Island Community Fair'. YAY!!
Lake Cassidy...1st place
Bleeding Hearts...1st place
Snow 2007...2nd place
My favorite is the snow picture....goes to show what a good judge I am.
Of course I had to frame them and it is amazing how framing does change the some. Here they are unframed..
I just realized that is the wrong Lake c. picture--close though. Oh well
