Visiters

Well here it is after midnight and I am sitting at my computer just doing stuff. My oldest daughter and her family were here for the day and a nice visit. They live on son-in-laws family ranch in Eastern Washington. It has been in his family for over 150 years. They raise beef cattle and are very good stewards of their land. They do all their work by horseback (mostly) and dogs. It is a great place to go riding and they have some good horses. They did some work around here for me, mostly got the chain saw out and did more winter storm clean up. It is really done but he wanted to clean up some trees. It was really good to see them as they haven't been over for about 1 1/2 years. Here is a picture of C on one of the horses, Feathers out in never never land. It is amazing the difference in topography in the same state. We, over here are covered with trees and they just aren't. Also a Ritzville sunset.
I took pictures of pictures they brought. It would be nice to have a scanner, maybe someday.

Potatoes

I know potato harvest isn't until September and October but look at this. The 2 pictures with the tractors was taken May 10 and they were planting potatoes and the others were taken June 24th and look at the growing potatoes. They are already flowering and getting big. Same farm. Great fertile Skagit Valley.

Great-grandmother and Kylee

Two weeks ago when i went to visit my Mother on Whidbey I had not a care in the world. (HA) And then I had a flat tire and thought Darn, I'm not going to change it I have roadside service let them. So I called and they couldn't find anyone to come over to an island and then they found someone but it would be 1 1/2 hours before they would get here. OK I said. We proceed to wait. Dave, who sometimes has diminished mental capacity (because of the stroke) was waving to everyone and having a high ole time. Me, I'm just waiting. Steam rising. Finally some goodlooking young men stopped and I told them the whole store and they said hey we can change it right now-no waiting. So said Go for it. they did and I found out I had a really BAD tire. So off they went on their merry way (they were very good-looking) and I proceeded to the tire place only to find out that all 4 tires were VERY BAD. I saw them and they were. So 4 new tires later and lunch with my mother turned out to be dinner and on the way home a loaded dumptruck swooshed by splattering me with small rocks and now I have a crack in my windshield. WAH!!
Yesterdays visit turned out uneventful. Kylee came with and here is a picture of G-G-mother (91) and Kylee (13). I said to Kylee who is barely 5ft. Look you are taller that Great grandmother and she said snort, anyone is taller than GGM. Teenagers. MB

Whidbey Island Chapter 3

No big history lesson today. This is the Captain Whidbey Inn in Coupeville. Built in 1907 as a resort for big city folk on the mainland (Seattle-Tacoma). It is made entirely from Madrone' trees (Arbutus menziesii) which are very unstraight so it is pieced together.

Berry-Dairy Days

This week-end is Berry-Dairy Days in Burlington, a small town about 20 miles N. of my house. My youngest, Jolene, lives there. Burlington is down the hill from us in the Skagit Valley. So today we went to the parade and here are some pictures. The day was iffy--some sun until the clouds covered the sun. But nice! The parade was nice, typical small town, fire engines, tractors High School Band, horses etc.

More flowers from my yard

The wildflowers I photographed and posted yesterday are from a construction about 20 miles down I-5. I had to pull off and take a picture. These are from my yard. The Delphinium is the only one I have. There is Johnson Blue and Ballerina Hardy geraniums. Lavendar buzzing with bees and Rock Rose (Cistus) that I have across the front of the house. Our house has two fronts and two sides and no back--odd but true and even bewildering.

Kylee

Kylee did OK at the Granite Falls Barrel racing on Thursday. She really only went for some practice for the rodeo on the week-end. At the rodeo she did good in barrels and only so-so in the poles. She rode Jewel in the barrels and after the rodeo on Saturday night she ran barrels in the jackpot and won $40, so she thought Wahoo. Weekend after this one she is going (maybe) to a rodeo not too far from us so I hope to go and watch her. Since she moved in with me i hope to get to go to more of her events. The pictures the photographer took haven't been posted on-line yet so I have no photos of her. You get her boots. lol And another tacking up pic..

Sky and Mountain

Yesterday was a chilly rainy day and it cleared up early evening. A beautiful cresent moon with I think, Venus to it's right. And today I had to down the hill to town to pay some bills and Mt. Baker was beautiful across the valley.

Father's Day

Today is a day we honor Fathers. Without them we would not be here. Good, bad or indifferent today is their day. Maybe we should say a prayer.

Scenes from My House

Pictures of some flowers and plants in my garden and maybe other stuff too.
I liked this picture. Nice and woodsy, see the horse. that is our road on the left. Here's my truck all loaded up ready to go to the Farmer's Market. I made this container it is out by the road and our drive way.
Saturday I pressured washed the front porch--it is raised aggregate and collects dirt and grows moss--so I had to move some things and don't they look nice in the garden.
