Off to Mother's.....Again

Here are some pics of the trip over to my Mother's and on the island and back. Some pictures are in the fog on the way over. I guess i should put captions under the pictures but I know you will figure everything out.
When I was a kid (and I still am) My ambition in life was to be a hermit. I wanted to have a log house in the woods, with a fireplace and one wall would be bookcases full of books. I would have a horse and dog....I would be happy. Life interfers with dreams sometimes and I have always thought of my house in the woods.
It was a foggy day over and a pretty day on the way back. Everett has a Naval Base on it's waterfront and the carrier Abraham Lincoln, and other ships, are based there.
My mother is still knitting and making blankets, so she keeps busy. She went to have her hair colored and the colorist did something wrong and it turned out bright RED. She just wanted something soft and barely blond. Mother has a little red car and the hair matched the car. So no pic of Mother today. She is trying to lighten it and now it is pink. I told her it looked---well sorta--OK. because she is sweet and kooky anyway. She didn't buy it. We do go to lunch and I took her shopping and nobody dropped dead or ran screaming at the sight of her. We will all recover. I hope!!

Tea Party

I went to a sweet tea party yesterday at a very English Bakery. It was fun and I had, besides tea a Steak and Mushroom Pie which was quite tasty. The meal of the day was Bangers and Smash. And everyone had an English accent.

Work Party.

I got bunches of work done outside yesterday. The two little boys, Brett-9 and Bradley-8 next month are just the best helpers. Two of my daughters, and two little boys and of course myself we worked all day. We raked leaves and hauled them to the compost most of the day. I leave the leaves on the ground over the winter as a mulch. Eventually leaves just have to be raked. Cleaned out the hay storage part of the barn and Brett drug most of the largest pasture. My son-in-law showed up in the afternoon and he graded the driveway with the tractor.. I made home-made tomato (Pioneer Woman's recipe) and then when it was all done and we looked sorta grubby we went out to dinner. We laughed and Laughed. What a fun day it was.

Bingo goes to school

Friday was Bingo's first day of school. One thing we hope he will learn is not to sit at the table to read the paper.

Winter birds

These are the many birds of winter. For some unknown blogger reason I cannot post a post under each picture today. I will go on. So you will have to be the bird watcher. We have eagles with their feathers ruffled in the windy weather, Snow geese riaing in a clout--oops wrong kind of bird thing, trumpter Swan playing in the water a red tailed Hawk and a note for Spring---A red-winged Blackbird in my willow tree down by the pond. They nest here every year and are fun to interact with. So enjoy the birds.

Please go visit Tina Michelle at www.gardengoose.blogspot.com and enter her drawing.

Last night's moon

The moon took forever to come up from behind the trees and when it did it was huge and just glowing. I guess it was trying to outshine the eclipse from the night before.

Big teeth

Went visiting my Mother on Whidbey Island yesterday and took bunches of pictures and some of the carved animals and such. Could this be a lion? or bear? I like it anyway. Chain saw art I think.

WEIRD OR RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME
1...I am never without my camera
2...I talk to myself a lot...and even carry on a conversation. I am alone a lot.

4...I like to watch surgeries
5...I am a nature lover with Mother Earth

Dual Pics

I took these pictures at the same spot only West and East. Pretty cool, huh!! This was last evening around 5:30 the sun was just going down so I zoomed tight on it(I love my new camera) and then turned around and snapped the moon. And when I got to my house the moon wasn't over the trees yet. Don't forget to watch the total eclipse of the moon tonight. MB.

Spring is peeking

This plant is a black Pussywillow (Salix melanostachys). It is so pretty with it's reddish teigs and reddish-black fuzzies. It is shown in comparison with a French Pussywillow (Salix caprea). It was such a beautiful sunny day, temp around 50, g-boys in their shirt sleeves, I could feel Spring in the air. I know it can't be rushed but we sure try to push it. Click on pic to see the real beauty of the fuzzy. Looks like a blackberry. MB

To the mountains

I went on a little road trip today. Up to Baker Lake in the very close shadow of Mt. Baker. Snow everywhere and sunny and cold but lovely. The lakes were covered with snow making them beautiful. Here is a picture of Mt. Baker and Lake Tyee

My Grampa Joe

My Grampa Joe was a fireman for the city of Seattle. He started out as a driver with a team of horses. I believe this is the year he started 1911. He died in 1945 so I didn't even know him. MB

In the woods

I love this little house. It is in the woods, off the grid. I want it and it is for sale at a real nice price, with a few acres. It's not to far from where I live. If I was 25 I'd go for it. WAH!!
I guess that means I'm not!

Road trip to Moms

Yes off to Mother's again. Well that was yesterday. I stopped at a few beaches on the way and took bunches of great pictures. I took some pics of her stained glass which I posted on my Strawberry Hills blog. I walked out on the long pier at Langley Harbor and saw bubbles come up in the water and then look what appeared.

Kylee'e project

But guess who does some of it. Science project--comparisons. We took bean seeds and started some in a warm very light room and some others in a cold and dark room. Here are first pictures taken a few days apart.

Farmgirl Mechanics

Shannon has been having problems with her truck--not starting, etc. This morning she and Kylee were going down south to look at a horse---when her truck was dead....dead....dead. she fiddled and played with it and decided the batteries were BAD. Well she knew her batteries were not the best. Her truck is a F350 Diesel with 2 batteries. So we got her batteries and she and Kylee put tem in. the old ones were a bear to get out. They were the original ones and her truck is 5 yrs. old. They did it and off they went. Whew!

Just because

Just because I like it.
Just because I have nothing to say today.
Just because it is cold and wet and rainy.
Just because I want to go back to bed and curl up and get warm
JUST BECAUSE!!

logging

They are logging in my backyard. Thinning they call it and that is so much better than clear-cutting. Nice straight trees.
I am off to the dentist this morning. Not my favorite thing to do but one must. Off I go. BYE!

Bingo and Jake

So....do you think Bingo has grown? Once upon a time Jake was WAY bigger. I never did want a dog in the house--let alone two. I should have named Bingo Topsy, because that is just how he grew. By the way--is this a long curvy dog or WHAT!!??

Back from Moms

I had a nice visit with my Mother and we took a drive and stopped for lunch and enjoyed ourselves. As you know, my mother (91) is always on the lookout for a new project. she has fallen in love with this house and is wondering if it is a little too far gone for a remodel. It is so cute-but............we laughed!!

Here is where we ate lunch....Rubys at the Greenbank Store.

I've been tagged by Allison to do something with 4s. i don't go to movies or watch much TV so I will have to improvise.
1. 4 animals I like: horses, dogs, horses, cats
2. 4 foods I like : Cheerios, porterhouse steak, my homemade cookies, tomatoes
3. 4 places I've lived: Washington, Oregon, Cal. and that's it
4. 4 places I'd rather be: on the road, Alaska, right here and that's it again
5. 4 people who e-mail me: Deena, Sue, Nancy Jo, Eva Marie

I tag whoever reads this and wants to carry on.
Now you know why I don't usually do tags.
