It is a great tragedy experienced by a city when two fishing boats from Anacortes, with 14 aboard, go down in the Bering Sea on Valentine's Day. The sinking of the Americus and the Altair stuns city residents. almost a generation of fishermen lost at once. Fathers and sons and husbands and friends.

We too often forget what a dangerous occupation fishing can be.
Last time it happened in France, it was a Breton fishing boat called 'Bugale Breizh' (the children of Brittany in the Breton language). It is rumoured that an American submarine had something to do with the drowning of all aboard...) Always so sad. My Godson is a fisher as is his brother and his father whose father was also a fisher. I try not to think what could happen...
Unfortunatelly not that uncommon.
On Valentine's day to boot - how awfully sad...
Terrible tragedy! I fear this is the life of those who work at sea! :(
What a great loss to be suffered by Anacortes.
