We will go see Papa at the nursing home and the go to GI Joes to get a foam mattress for camping, play around, go eat something and then see how long mom is working and take the babies home. Hardly babys they are 7 and 9.

Lazy summer days

My friends red canoe on our pond. We had such silly fun in that canoe---here and various rivers. Not this year though but we will again.

Travels on Tuesday

I went to visit my Mother today. As you all know she lives in Langley on Whidbey Island. I haven't been to see her for a few weeks because of all the stuff with Dave. So this morning I took Kylee to the bus stop and came home and fed the dogs and then took one of my daughter's dog to the vet to get spayed and finally got on my way. In between all that i did take a shower and comb my hair at least. I decided to take the ferry today in stead of drive around. It was good to see her we went to a late breakfast and drove around and looked at waterfront homes. (who has that much money) There are some gorgeous ones and cute cabin types too. It was nice to visit her and nice to get home. I picked the dog up from the vet and she is still a little wobbly. She is a pretty doy, a Black and Tan Coonhound. Her name is Whiskey River and she is sorta a rescue dog. Very sweet dog. I wish I had a good picture of her.

OYSTER RUN

This is like the 45th annual Oyster Run in the Valley. 10s of thousands of bikers participate and they all end up in Anacortes (which I didn't go to this year) and all the roads are closed up there. But it is neat to see and very exciting and noisy. They come from all over and make a Valley loop stopping at any little town with a pub or bar. And I like how they all line up nicely.

Well-taken care of beauty

This house is late 1800s and on the Historical Registry. Still being lived in, used as an every day home.

Oops

I almost forgot my daily picture. I have been so busy running around like a chicken with it's head cut off and accomplishing mostly nothing that
I spaced out. EEEEK!!
Here is a picture of the new nameless pup. He is a cutie. He was hiding in my closet on a coat he pulled down. He's still cute.

Another day

We have rain, some sunshine, cool temps and it might get warm this afternoon. What to wear, what to wear--as if I had much of a choice anyway. lol
Tomorrow is Fall Equinox and the next day is Yom Kippur. So Fall and Winter will soon be upon us and we will miss the sunny summer days. Well here anyway where it doesn't get too hot.
The Eagles and Snow Geese and Trumpter Swan will soon be showing up to winter in the valley. And the many types of Hawks. Always fun to go birding.
This is a picture I took last month. Taken on Camano Island looking across Port Susan Bay towards Stanwood with Mt Baker in the background.

Autumn Leaves

Can't ignore it any longer---fall is making an appearance. The Vine Maples, Japanese Maples and the Dogwoods are always the first to color up.

Another day

Another day goin' down. Ambush is still ailing. she is on only 3 legs now. She has another gash on her shoulder---it is very strange---she is in a small pasture by herself, she has a blanket on that covers her shoulder and she can't walk----so how is she getting cut? the vet thinks she has something in her system trying to get out--a bone chip or something. she feels good, eats, poops, drinks water and is alert. the vet will be out today. I hope ole Bushka makes it. MB

update

I found my camera---yes it was right where I left it. But in a strange and sorta unusual place. I had to actually use my brain to remember where and why i put it there.

Lost

I can't find my camera. I am lost without it. I have looked EVERYWHERE. Not where it is though.

Who's Mountain

I got a scathing e-mail from a friend (?) who for the moment shall remain nameless. She was quite upset, when I posted a morning picture of Mt Rainier, that I referred to as 'my mountain'. She says it is HER mountain because when she was a small child her mother gave it to her---and since "age before beauty" I'll have to concede to her. After all I do have Mt. Baker.
1st Picture is Mt. Rainier elevation 14,440 ft.
2nd mountain Mt. Bake elevation 10,800 ft.
Both mountains in the Cascade Range.

Thanks

Ambush, my horse, is slowly getting better. The blood work showed she was anemic, which was why she didn't feel so good and dropped so much weight in such a short time. Also the sore on her shoulder was taking it's toll on her. I have to wash out the sore twice a day and treat it with stuff and junk. It cannot be covered because it is a puncture wound and has to heal from the inside out. Also give her a penicillin shot twice a day. She loves to see me coming with the big needle. Oh yeah!!
Thanks for being interested.

The town that never made it

Florance was founded in the late 1870s early 1880s and was called a rival of Stanwood. The towns were separated by the Stillaguamish River. It had Stores, saw mills and even a large hotel. Both towns were often flooded by the river and finally Florence could no longer compete. All that remains of the business district is the is a store once owned by Jasper Sill who came to Florence in 1878.
An old barn nearly taken over by brambles.
A river project across from the old store.

Reunion

I went to my High School reunion tonight. Small school--class size 64---48 showed up. It was very nice. Funny how some people look so young and some don't age too well but after talking to them for awhile they all look like the kids I went to school with. A lot of water has gone under this bridge. It is the Rainbow Bridge in LaConner, Wa.

Ambush

My horse Ambush, the one Kylee rides and now calls HER horse is not feeling well. It started out her being lame. the Equine chiropracter came to the fairgrounds and popped her knee back and she seemed alright but the next day she was lame again. But now she has something else going on. Kylee and her mom took her to the vet last night because she was real weak and had an abscess on her shoulder. the vet worked on that and couldn't find anything but did take blood to be worked up. We will find out about the blood on Monday. So Ambush is laid up for awhile, getting penicillin shots, washing her sore with anti-bacterial soap and epsom salts. So that's it for now.

Heading for home

Here is Kylee at the Whidbey Island Fairgrounds 2 week-ends ago. Check out the flying hair. she did real good on Ambush. that is where she won the halter and all the medals pictured before. Also a pic of Ambush relaxing in the pasture. Last weekend was the Monroe Fair and Ambush pulled up lame so she had to ride a different horse and this sunday maybe another playday if Ambush is OK.

Waiting for the bus

Kylee's first day at a new school in a new town (to her) and she doesn't know anybody. I drove her to the bus stop, we have to make a new one, because it is a little ways, but she can walk it but I (you know grandma's) had to make sure the bus stopped and everything without me embarrassing her. lol. the fog was rolling over the trees while we were waiting. Pretty.

Pieces of my area

I always show pictures of Mt. Rainier but never of Baker. Well here is Mt. Baker almost as high as Rainier. Rainier is South of us and Baker is north and east. Both beautiful mountains and so close.
Here is the mighty town of stanwood population around 4000. this is the east end of town looking west.
