Road tripping

A friend I haven't seen in just forever came up today and we had to head for the hills. That's Mt. Baker peeking up to the left of The Sisters Mts. We headed that way. The hills were pretty and the creek was cold.

Punkin' Patch

Today we all decided the sun was shining so it was time to go to the Pumpkin Farm. I buy lots of stuff at Schuh Farms through-out the spring and summer to fall. So Kylee and I, two of my daughters and their kids piled in the cars and off we went. Schuh farms is in the skagit Valley and has been around for a few generations. They put on a fine display. For the little kids they have a train pulled by a tractor and also for everyone a hay ride. The have chickens and baby pigs and lots of fun stuff. Free samples of all goodies too. Mattea got measured and Just Jake put on his farmer boy costume and was the hit of the party.

Stuff

Here I have been hanging around the house all day. Piddling around, doing this and that and almost forgot to post my daily picture. Shame on me.
So here are some cabbage and kale I am going to put in my garden 'bed' when the impatiens are done and they are. They got a touch of frost the other night and are turning black. So this weekend I will be doing that then I will show you a pic. Tomorrow is no school also so I will have Brett and Bradley and Kylee will be here too.
I posted a picture of cucumbers from the valley. They are dumping them and I have to find out why. I know they always plant extra to fill their quotas. But couldn't they go to schools, stores, food banks or something. I took some. Just call me a gleaner. Maybe they had poison on them accidentally---well I didn't get sick---so maybe not.
I tried to post this a while ago and then the power went out so Kylee and I went into Burlington to have some dinner and now it is 8:30 so I am finally going to get this going. I don't know why the power went out but it always does for no reason anyway.

What's happening to Stanwood?

Progress! I guess we cannot stop it even if we tried. I don't live in Stanwood proper, I live a bit out of town up in the woods (sorta). But look what is happening to this delightful little town. And this is right in town too. I showed you pictures of downtown Stanwood before with it's brick lined street--country yet all the up to date stores.

Fall Pics

This is the view south from the house. A stormy afternoon. Fall weather for sure.
Our tree forest is of course mostly conifers, doug fir, cedar and like that, any alder or trash wood is always logged off, but all around the edges is whatever grows--alder, vine maples and the like. Those are the ones that turn the great color.
