Really enjoyed these flowers -- very, very nice. And seeing the young women and their horses going through the Dairy Queen drive through was fun - good for them! Of course, being in farm country I noticed the cow-calf photo!
You asked about the corn pictured on my blog today. Here in Iowa farmer grow a lot of corn -- one farmer may raise hundreds and sometimes thousands of acres of it.
The corn is harvested when it dries (since you have to pay so much per bushel to have it dried commercially). Corn has to be dry to be shipped, etc. otherwise it will spoil.
The corn is hauled to elevators in every small town in Iowa. From there is is loaded into train cars and sent to processing plants -- such as ADM or Cargill, etc. -- where it is processed into corn oil and other products found in processed foods.
A large amount of the corn is made into animal feed for hogs, beef, and so on.
